With just weeks of this year left, 2015 already looks set to be a phenomenal year for live shows, with a number of incredible acts set to tour the States. It seems as though everyone who is anyone in the world of music is taking their wares on tour, and you could be there to enjoy every moment.
There is nothing quite like seeing your favorite artist at a live gig; the electricity of the crowd, the rush of the music as it hails through the speakers, and the absolute elation at hearing beloved songs performed right in front of you. Live gigs also allow you to stand in the presence of your heroes, and sing along with them as though you’re on stage too; there’s always a chance you may exchange glances across the packed concert hall, so keep your eyes peeled!
The who’s who of 2015 tours
As the countdown to 2015 begins, we take a look at some of the hottest acts who will be gracing the stage in the coming months; no matter what music you’re into, we’re sure there’ll be something to intrigue and excite you.
The Who: Starting out in Tampa, Florida, on April 15th, The Who’s The Who Hits 50! tour looks set to be a nostalgic journey into the past five decades, with favorite hits such as “My Generation”, “Pinball Wizard”, “Baba O’Riley” and “Won’t Get Fooled Again” set for an airing – talk about spoiling you! Formed in 1964, The Who is one of England’s greatest exports, and the opportunity to see this band live – particularly if you’ve never made it to one of their gigs before – should not be missed. The Who will be playing over 40 gigs in North America and Canada between April and September next year, so get online and book your tickets today.
Taylor Swift: In stark contrast to the British rockers comes Taylor Swift, America’s pop sweetheart. Hot on the heels of her bestselling album, 1989, Taylor will be taking her infectious blend of pop and country music on tour once more, launching her spate of live gigs in Bossier City, Louisiana, on May 20th. The 1989 World Tour is set to play to thousands of fans in America and Europe, finally finishing on October 31st in Tampa, Florida. Fans can expect to hear recent hits such as “Shake it Off” and “Blank Space” as well as a few old favorites; what are you waiting for?
Foo Fighters: Founded by Dave Grohl (drummer in Nirvana) in 1994, Foo Fighters is one of America’s hottest rock bands to date, with a back catalogue as long as your arm. With hits including “All My Life”, “Learn to Fly”, “Breakout”, “Best of You”, “Rope”, and “These Days”, and a brilliant new album in Sonic Highways, a Foo Fighters gig is always going to be amazing fun; be sure to get your tickets as soon as you can. Foo Fighters will be touring North America from July 4th, with an opening night in Washington, DC. The band will then scour the States for the best crowds until October 7th, finishing up in Memphis, Tennessee.
One Direction: It seems as though One Direction’s star is still rising, despite their relative obscurity when they first took to the stage for the UK’s version of The X Factor. Niall, Harry, Louis, Zayn, and Liam, five relatively normal guys from England and Ireland, have the ability to reduce a crowd of screaming fans into quivering jelly, and so their On the Road Again Tour is definitely one to attend if you’re a bit of a Directioner. Hitting the road on July 9th in San Diego, California, the boys are completing a number of dates throughout July, August, and September, finishing up in Boston, Massachusetts on September 12th. Hits should include, “Steal My Girl”, “Best Song Ever”, “Story of My Life”, and “Live While We’re Young”, with a few album tracks thrown in. If you’re a big One Direction fan, you need to stop reading and purchase your tickets – preferably yesterday!
If you haven’t already, it’s about time you started to think about how you’ll be spending your 2015. Whether you’re a rocker, a pop fan, or a lover of music in general, next year is going to be a fantastic one for live events. In fact, with so many brilliant acts and artists jumping on the tour bandwagon, it seems silly to limit yourself to just one show. We’ll see you there!
